The Office

Having established the office in 2007, Grigorios Alekos, was soon recognized in his field, by reason of his active personality, his anthropocentric approach in combination with his thorough scientific training and, as a result, our office undertakes serious criminal cases and our legal advice services are regularly retained by major businessmen.

The philosophy of the office is based on three axes: Dynamic approach, professional integrity and full response to the needs of the client. Our office has been engaged in all fields being specialized in the handling of criminal cases, having undertaken and successfully processed cases of special public interest (Conspiracy of the Nuclei of Fire – Phoenix Plan, triple manslaughter in Eretria), being, however, focused on the financial crime (Criminal Circuit 2) and the corporate criminal law.

Over the years, our office has managed to establish the reputation of a high-standard law firm perfectly adapted to the needs of each client, showing excellent professional consistency.

The extensive knowledge of the compliance procedures, internal investigations, partnership procedures and competitive practices as well as the long involvement in the management and receivables collection are the reasons why our office is regularly selected for the provision of advices in the context of corporate criminal liability, which is a particularly important area of our concern.

Self-incriminating statements of the defendant – 9th Conference of the Hellenic Union of Criminal Lawyers – Participation in a collective volume – Issues of Evidence in Criminal Procedure

The study entitled “The Self-Incriminating Statements of the Accused” was the subject of my contribution to the 9th Conference of the Association of Greek Criminal Lawyers, which took place on the 20th and 21st of October 2023 in Thessaloniki, which was recently published by the Law Library.

The study deals with the problem of the procedural use of the self-incriminating statements of the defendant. For the completeness of the inquiry of the issue, it was considered appropriate to make a comparative reference to the way in which self-incriminating statements are treated both by Greek jurisprudence and the European Court of Human Rights and the US Supreme Federal Court, whose jurisprudence is, admittedly, particularly advanced.

After a classification of self-incriminating statements according to the way in which the investigating authorities have gained access to them, the possibilities of their procedural use are then explored for each case. In particular, it examines what are the critical conditions that must be met in order for such statements to be freely exploited by the court
